The Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising

The American Academy of
Advertising (AAA) has recently acquired ownership of The Journal of Current Issues and Research in
Advertising (JCIRA) and seeks an editor for the journal. Currently, Eric Haley of University of
Tennessee-Knoxville is serving as interim editor of the journal. The new editor will assume responsibilities
January 1, 2013. Editorship is a three-year appointment.
The JCIRA editor appoints
members to the JCIRA Editorial Board, works with the publisher, provides bi-annual reports to the AAA
Publications Committee, and oversees JCIRA's content. Candidates must be current members in good standing of
AAA. JCIRA is a refereed forum where current issues and research in advertising are vetted and the best of
theoretical and applied data-driven works are presented. The journal will be published twice per year
online.
Candidates should provide
evidence of demonstrated excellence in research and publication in the field of advertising. Preference is given
to candidates whose educational background, experience, and research accomplishments provide direction for the
future development of JCIRA. The editor is expected to report to the AAA Publications Committee (which reports
to the Executive Committee) at annual AAA conferences and is required to be an AAA member during the period of
editorship. Support from the editor's institution is required. Finalists will be interviewed during the 2012 AAA
Annual Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC, March 15-18, 2012.
